Apart from my scientific research, my other interests include literature, travelling and music.

I've sporadically done some non-fiction writing, and even had some of it published. Though I'm unsure if I still have the paper copies of all of them, as I didn't think to archive them at the time. The only published writing that I have an electronic copy of is the following poem:

I also try my hand at photography, though none have been published (yet).

This photo was taken at an exhibition in 2008 of costumes once worn by 'La Divina' Maria Callas at the Paris Opera (aka Opera Garnier), which is also the opera house that features in The Phantom of the Opera, made famous by the eponymous novel and musical. It commemorates the 50th anniversary of her now-legendary recital in 1958.

Despite that the 1958 recital was broadcast widely on television around the world, it was only in 2019 that a pre-show interview with her then-husband, Giovanni Battista Meneghini, was re-discovered in the vaults of the French television archives. My partner Christophe Avellaneda restored these long lost reels (as television at the time was also recorded on celluloid film like cinema), and an excerpt from them is highlighted in the following tweet. The translation of the tweet's text is

though unfortunately the embedded video itself has French audio only.
